  • “Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of having my very own lavender pearl necklace. Once in middle school, I decided to take on what was my very first job and spend the initial pay check on a gorgeous pair of pearls. However, I remembered that my mom didn't have one, so I decided to gift her with her very own necklace which she wears so happily to this day. Fast forward a decade and my lovely fiance bought me this lavender necklace for Valentine's Day. The website was having a buy one get two free gifts sale at the time and he decided to gift those to my mother. How sweet! I was the happiest girl on the planet up until the moment I opened that box. The pearls looked absolutely nothing like shown in the picture. Unfortunately, the pearls are not the gorgeous, sultry shade of lavender as seen in the photo, but a gross, variety of hues, ranging from a brownish-grey to a peachy-orange!!! I would understand if the necklace gave off only a semi lavender hue because commercial pictures are always exaggerated. But how can you call a pearl necklace with an assortment of ugly grey and orange colours a lavender necklace? If I had to compare this necklace to the pictures of other necklaces on this website, it looks more like the Pink pearl necklace offered, which is actually a peach colour. I was beyond disappointed, heartbroken even. It might sound like I'm making a big deal out of this, but the idea of having a lavender pearl necklace was so symbolic to me. Moreover, the product I ordered should resemble what I ordered, correct? Although upset, I was not dejected. Thankfully, I'm an art major ... so I know a little bit about jewelry dying. I've been working on this necklace for the last few days. It's an intensive process that requires special dyes, boiling, stripping, dying again, etc. After dyeing the necklace several times, I am slowly getting to the shade that I desire. I feel like Walter White from Breaking Bad ... when what I should really be feeling like a freaking princess! On top of that, my pearl necklace has so many dents and imperfections I would have been better off buy a $40 dollar untreated pearl necklace from Winners and dyed it lavender. It would have cost my fiance the pretty penny he spent. So how do I feel after all of this? Disappointed in PearlsOnly but impressed by my own ingenuity. Ladies, fellas ... folks ... if you need a lavender necklace ... this is not your best option.”
